Independence Day 'Community Elephant Fodder Plantation'

In a continuation of the 'Community Elephant Fodder Plantation' project, women and men from Borghat, Lungsung & Chapanala villages planted 'bhim kol', the giant banana species favoured by the pachyderms, and jackfruit saplings at Bagherghati, Karbi foothills, near Chapanala, Nagaon on the occasion of the 67th Independence Day of India. The initiative has been very popular among the villagers of these elephant depredation affected area and the Green Guard Nature Organization team was approached by the villagers themselves to celebrate 'independence' in this unique way. The plantation programme was followed by a feast organized by the villagers themselves.
