TINA Grant Wildlife Hoardings

Twenty wildlife awareness hoardings supported by the TINA Grant for Dulu Bora were installed at various places around Nagaon by members of Green Guard Nature Organization. In the first phase, ten bilingual hoardings in Assamese and English were put up at Khutikatia, Uriagaon, Puranigudam, Amoni, Missa, Koliabor, Jakhalabandha and Salna to spread awareness about the rich biodiversity of this region and their conservation needs. The selected places are major transit points on the NH 37 and all these species are found in the vicinity of these hoarding installations.

In the second phase, ten more hoardings covering the diverse wildlife of the Karbi foothills were installed at various places along the Nagaon-Karbi Anglong border. Hoardings were installed at Kothalguri, Udmari, Lungsung, Shamgaon, Borghat, Chapanala Bagan, Chapanala Chariali and Champawati, all close to the species rich Swang RF to spread awareness about the biodiversity and their conservation needs. The wildlife covered include the Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Rhino, Hoolock Gibbon, Greater Adjutant, Chinese Pangolin, Grey Peacock Pheasant, 3 Hornbills and the King Cobra. These species have often strayed into human settlements and some were also rescued from poachers in the Karbi foothills by members of Green Guard Nature Organization.
